McIlhenny Company is the one that makes Tabasco brand products. The company was founded by Edmund McIlhenny in 1868 century on Avery Island, Louisiana. The first recipe for Tabasco Red Pepper sauce was created then, in the 19th century, and has been passed down from generation to generation. The company is still family-owned and -operated on the same island and follows the recipe found in Edmund McIlhenny’s recipe book.
